Primrose & Gordon, Dumfries' oldest firm of solicitors, here is a guide
to who everyone is and what they do.
:: John Burn - Senior Partner
John graduated from Aberdeen University in Scotland with
LLB in 1966 when he joined us as a Law Apprentice. He qualified as a solicitor
in 1968 and became a partner in 1971. A former Chairman of the Solicitors
Property Centre Scotland Group, past President of Scottish Law Agents Society,
John is now an honorary Member of the Scottish Law Agents Council. John
is also the Treasurer of the Dumfries Burns Club and for many years he was Secretary of the
Dumfriesshire and Kirkcudbrightshire Ploughing Association. He specialises
in conveyancing and executry work and also deals with all aspects of legal
life.
:: Matthew Pumphrey - Partner
Matthew studied at Edinburgh University and gained LLB in 1968,
qualified as a solicitor in 1970 and joined us in 1981 when he
immediately became a partner. He has been in charge of the litigation
department since then. He is a member of the local Bridge Club
Committee. He is involved in amateur dramatics and has taken part in
several local productions including one play which went to the Scottish
One Act Festival Finals in Inverness. He is a Writer to the Signet. He
belongs to several committees, including Couple Counseling and Pass
Direct. He is the Clerk to one of the local District Salmon Fishery
Boards. He is a part time Chairman of the Appeal Service sitting
approximately twice a month in both Dumfries and Stranraer. He is a
member of the National Appeal Panel for entry into Pharmaceutical lists.
:: John Lawson - Partner
John was educated at both Edinburgh and Aberdeen Universities and has BA
English/Philosophy, LLB and Diploma of Legal Practice. He did his
training at Edmonds and Ledingham in Aberdeen and came to us in 1985 and
was assumed as a partner in 1988. He deals with chamber practice and
court work. He has a good knowledge of Immigration and Employment Law.
He is involved with the Guild of Players in Dumfries and has a diploma
in French through the Open University.
:: Isobel Storey - Law Accountant
Isobel began her career as a Law Accountant when she became a cashier
in 1988. She joined us in 1991 and in 1993, qualified with the
Society of Law Accountants Certificate in Glasgow. Isabel is very involved
in Executry and Taxation work.
:: Lorna Ronald - Trainee Solicitor
Lorna graduated from Strathclyde University with LLB in 2004. She
thereafter completed her Diploma in Legal Practice at Glasgow Graduate
schools of law before joining Primrose and Gordon in May 2005. Lorna is
originally from the Mull of Kintyre. She is a member of Annan town Band
in which she plays BB Cornet.
